C.O.O.L. Ministry

In 2002 Barbara started crocheting baby blankets for Baptist Hospital after hearing there
was a need for them. The blankets would be for preemie babies who passed away to have something special to be buried in. When Jeannie joined BH she found out what Barbara was doing and wanted to get involved. At this time they did not have a name. It was just two ladies crocheting, enjoying what they were doing and being blessed by the Lord. A few years later Paula shared with them the idea of making prayer shawls for people who were having a hard time, were sick or just needed a hug from the Lord. It was decided they would start making prayer shawls, too, but they knew they could not do it all on their own. They were led to start a class for anyone who would like to learn to crochet or who already crocheted and would like to join them in their work. That is how the COOL Ministry began back in 2005. "C.O.O.L.", which  stands for “Crocheting out of Love", truly is a work of love. We have 12 active members and some very important people "we could not do without" behind the scenes. We also appreciate and covet prayer support.

We meet the first Thursday of the month at 10:00 am at the church. Bring a crochet
hook, some yarn and join us for a time of fun, crocheting, and fellowship. Knitters are
also welcome and encouraged to be a part. All that we do is done for the glory of God. We desire to share His love with others through the work of our hands and yarn. We thank
Him for 5 years of ministry and look forward to all the wonderful things He has for us in
the years ahead.

Each month Barbara and Mildred, and sometimes Mary, take the crocheted preemie baby sets to Baptist Hospital. We have many sweet baby blankets sets that are ready to be delivered in August. Activity books, crayons, diapers, shampoo, magazines, cards, puzzles,& Bibles, collected by WMU, will also be taken. The hospital is always needing coloring books and crayons for the children. Something new we sent was preemie quilted baby blankets made by one of our members.

We also have a prayer ministry for expectant mothers and their babies, and other
little ones who have special needs. Right now we have several moms-to-be on our list.
If you want to add a name to the list, just call the church office at 352-1295.

NEXT MEETING: Oct 7, 2010We now have a new mesh prayer shawl pattern, thanks to Ethel-Lonniell! We are also still making the new favorite "Snowflake" baby blanket for the hospital. Come to the next meeting and see what I am talking about.

We welcome Roman to our group, too. You are an answer to prayer.

In May COOL celebrated 5 years of ministry, all to the Glory of God! Thank
you to everyone who has had a part in COOL in any way.

Margaret has asked for our yarn scraps. It is amazing what she can make with left over yarn. Thanks Paula and Ethel-Lonniell for the yarn you donated for her.

Don't forget to memorize your Scripture verse each month. I recommend using the
wirebound index card holder. It's so important to equip ourselves with the Word of God
and to hide His Word in our heart and to speak it our loud when we need to.

Continue to work on your 20 Wishes list we began months ago. If you need inspiration,
read Twenty Wishes by Debbie Macomber. It is in the BH library in memory of Lynn Birmingham.

There is a new Debbie Macomber book in the church library. It's called One Simple Act, Discovering the Power of Generosity. Debbie invites us to live with open hands, offering
who we are and what we have to God, to use in the lives of others. Through this book you will discover what happens when we commit intentional acts of generosity. It is amazing what God accomplishes when we make ourselves available through simple acts of generosity. When we live this way, lives, including our own, are changed in ways we couldn't have imagined. "All it takes is one simple act." I highly recommend this book.

For fun reading any time, I recommend the new mystery books by Mindy Starns Clark. We have her complete "Million Dollar Mysteries" series in the BH library. Plus we have her

A big thank you to Margaret for all the sweet baby caps and the hats for the
homeless you have made this year. You are truly amazing!

The ABC's Of Salvation ---"Examine yourself in the light of God's holiness"

Admit to God you are a sinner. Confess your sins to God and turn from them. Ask Him to forgive you of your sins. Accept God's gift of forgiveness from sin. Romans 6:23.

Believe that JESUS is God’s Son and the only way for salvation. Surrender your heart to
Him. John 3:16

Confess your faith in JESUS Christ as Savior and Lord. Romans 10:9-10, 13

Start reading the Bible everyday and obey what it says. Get in a Bible believing, Christ-
centered Church. Begin to grow in the Lord and become a faithful witness to others who
need Him, too.
