International Happenings

WE ARE BACK - THINGS ARE STILL HAPPENING

After a long absence, we are updating this site to try to better inform you of the International
Department program at BHBC. As many of you know, things have not been normal in Nashville
recently due to extreme flooding over the city. Perhaps, some of us got behind on our responsibilities
earlier due to other conflicts and demands on our time and schedule. We hope we can stay more
current in our coverage of the "happenings" in the future so that you can better keep up with us.

ANNOUNCEMENTS AND ACTIVITIES

1. INTERNATIONAL DEPARTMENT SCHEDULE - 2010

 A. New Pronunciation Class - The pronunciation class had to be cancelled in May due to the loss of one of the teachers and the problems caused by the flooding.

 B. RC COLA - MOON PIE FESTIVAL - A new event for this year is a trip to the annual RC Cola - Moon Pie Festival held in Bell Buckle, Tennessee, on June 19. Bell Buckle is a very small, old town in TN whose population will grow from about 200 to 20,000 on festival day. There will be country music, clogging (a form of dancing ), arts and crafts, varieties of food, and of course - Moon Pies and RC Colas.  In fact, you will likely see the world's largest Moon Pie there that day.  Activities are scheduled to start at 9:00 AM and will last all day. You can come and leave at whatever time you choose. If you want to participate in an early event you can run in a 10 mile run starting at 7:00 AM (advance registration required). The church van will be available for going to/from Bell Buckle. Departure time from the church is presently scheduled for 9:00 AM; return time leaving from Bell Buckle about 5:00 PM. You may prefer to drive your own vehicle so you can better control your schedule. Maps will be available to give you the route. There is no admission charge to the festival but you will have to bring or buy your food or drink.

You may invite guests to come to this event. Sign up yourself and any guests on the sheet in the International Department by June 13. Space on the van is "first come, first served" for those making a reservation. You may bring your children. Know that we will be outside for most of the day so come prepared with protection from rain and/or hot sun.

For those who do not know what an RC Cola and Moon Pie is, we will give you a preview and sample on Sunday morning, June 6, when these will be served as our morning refreshment in the International Department.
